Revoluzzer
Barrique
Red Wine Cuvée Trocken
The
Bad Dürkheim wine estate owner Johann Fitz led the uprising
of local vintners against the reigning King at the 1832 "Hambach
Festival" to protest unfair taxation and restrictions on
freedom of speech during what is considered by historians to
be the „First Hour of Democracy in Germany".
In his protest speech he proclaimed to his audience "In
these hard times, only he who drinks wine is a patriot".
The black Flag carried by him "The vintners are in mourning"
can today be seen in the local history musem in Bad Dürkheim.
The Revoluzzer spent 18 months in a Barrique Oak barrel. It
is a cuvée of Cabernet Sovignon and Acolon.
The
bouquet reminds one of dark, ripe wild berries.
