Fitz-Ritter Estate Riesling

This could well be called a Fitz-Ritter "Signature" wine . As all Gewürztraminer fans know, finding a really fine one is rare, the reasons for this being that many vintners shy away from it as it is often quirky with low and irregular yields. This makes it especially difficult to supply an export market. And Gewürztraminer is a grape variety which chooses you, your soil and your cellars -- you don't choose it. To achieve the perfect balance of spicy, rose-petal and lychee nut aromas, whithout becoming overwhelmly perfumed, the soil has to be just right, the climate too -- and then the wine has to feel good in your cellar. Fitz-Ritter is located a mere 1/2 hour drive from the Alsacian border and Gewürztraminer growing on our estate is a tradition which matches the Alsacian one, dating back hundreds of years. Although we make dry Gewürztraminer as well -- our single best selling bottle of wine in the US is the sweeter Gewürztraminer Spätlese. Try it with Fusion, Thai, Chinese and all other Asian foods -- anything with spices and fruits and tangy flavors. It is truly a favorite.
